Lots of us can’t afford to spend a lot of money on cat food. Let’s be real here! Most of the healthy canned and dry versions are not only expensive, but picky cats won’t touch it with a 10-foot feather wand. This can lead to wasting money, wasting food, and your cat becoming frustrated with every new brand. Yes, we get it Mittens! Fancy Feast tastes amazing, but it’s like eating McDonald’s every day! But you don’t understand that, do you? I found a dry option and canned option that is healthy, enjoyable by even the pickiest of cats, and you won’t need to spend much more than you do for the cheaper brands.
Sheba Perfect Portions
It is best to try to limit your cat’s intake of corn and try to avoid it altogether with cats who have food sensitivities. Sheba doesn’t use corn, wheat, or soy and the first ingredient is always REAL meat, fish, or poultry. No, this is not one of the best in terms of high-quality health food, but in comparison to other cheaper brands, it is the healthiest option. The portion-controlled feeding is a bonus and leaves out the guess-work. The flavors they offer include chicken, beef, turkey, salmon, tuna, trout, whitefish, and mixed grill. The textures come in both premium paté and premium cuts in gravy. Both my boys prefer the paté.

Goodlife Dry Cat Food
Much like Sheba, the first ingredient in Goodlife is always real meat. They also do not use corn, soy, or wheat. Most health issues that come from feeding a cat the wrong brand is the grains. That is most important when looking at any brand of food. Grains, corn, and soy cause obesity in cats, dogs, and even humans. They offer an indoor recipe, salmon recipe, and chicken recipe. I made the change from Fancy Feast dry with no complaints from either cat and it is more affordable too.

Cats need enzymes as well. We just lost our older cat a few months ago to pancreatitis so I know. As cats are obligate carnivores, their prey contains enzymes. Since we lost our oldest, I put my senior girl on an all-in-one multivitamin/enzymes/probiotics. I leave her grain free kibble beside the water fountain when I goto work and when I goto bed. Her main meals are Friskies. I know it’s bad but that’s all she eats. Although I may try Soulistic again, that stuff is wonderful although pricey.

Dry food and grain are the WORST thing to feed any cat. Doesn’t matter if it’s a high quality or not.
It’s not “the worst thing” plus not a lot of people can get wet food every few days.
The grains part is true based on scientific evidence, but the “dry” part of that statement is not factual. Raw foods are the best for dogs and cats, but not very realistic or affordable for most people.
